Oh no, so sorry to hear you were ill and missed San Diego! I loved Carmel as well, though we didn't have much time there, also Monterey and the sea otters was my top favourite!

Hi
San Diego is great and always fab weather. Do not miss Old Town, you can get to it on the tram system which also passes a great mall (Fashion Valley, I seem to remember) The USS Midway is a great visit. My highlight was one of the jet pilot talks on the Flight deck, really interesting! Do visit Coronnado Island. We also went on the seal boat which was great fun, it goes from the seaport village next to the Marriot and the Hyatt on the waterfront. If you are flying from San Diego airport, eat first or take food with you. It is only small and not a great choice of eateries. Balboa Park is lovely and worth a visit but you do pay to go in all the museums and galleries. |

Yes, the weather looks amazing, I think I want to live there, sounds the perfect climate for me, as I hate the cold! Thanks for all the ideas. I think we will be flying London/LA, depends if I can get miles flights with Virgin Atlantic, if not, I will just be searching round for the best deals. Did you fly straight into San Diego from the UK?

You can't fly direct to San Diego from UK. We flew to San Fran via Chicago, drove round southern California, and ended up in San Diego. We flew home to Manchester via Chicago again. We flew BMI/United.
If you like warm weather, try to visit Palm Springs. Hot, hot, hot! When we were there in September, it was 106 at 10pm! |

We went on a sailing ship on a evening cruise in San Diego. The link for this is :nextlevelsailing/ (look at cruise route and book a cruise for details)
We also went to a murder mystery dinner in San Diego which was a good laugh (a tip for this tho is if you want to 'get' some jokes make sure you are up to date with America popular culture and the topical stories) mysterycafe/main.html Coronado is well worth a visit as is the Old Town. We loved it and treated ourselves to a meal at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse - the most expensive meal we ever had but so so good - would go again and would recommend as a special treat If money were no object or you would wanted one special night I would stay at the 'San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina' and make sure I got a room with view Loads more I'm sure - you will have a ball ATB squigls |

Oh, fantastic, lucky you! If your hotel happens to have any guides in the foyer, I wonder if you'd mind picking some out for me? I would send you the postage and would be truly grateful (begs on knees) I'm not fussy what the guides are for, local attractions, map, anything really, just something to keep me going until August 2010!
