Villa communities

Am off to dlp tomorrow but am about to start planning for wdw 2019! Any advice please about which villas to book? Only stayed once before in lovely dibb villa in esprit- but would love to go nearer to lake buena vista. Also don't plan to do as much Disney- may even decide on universal this time. As you can tell am not too familiar with villa areas

Lake Berkley would be a good location, or the other resorts in that area. They're more over to the east so much better if you want to spent time at Universal. You can access them by using N Poinciana Blvd so you can avoid using the 192 (which we hate!).

We had a lovely villa at Lake Berkley with a lake view, and it's a gated community. There's also a big Walmart at the end of Oren Brown Rd which is really convenient.

I would definitely recommend Southern Dunes. We have stayed at 4 different villas there over the course of 4 years. It is very tranquil and nice. It is on a golf course but we never play golf so it is not that important for us. Walmart, The dollar store, KFC, Mcdonalds, Chinese, Burger king, Manny's chophouse, Denny's etc. Are all in walking distance. It is a gated community so you must have a pass to get in which you are given when you first arrive. Every Villa has a private pool followed by the massive pool as you enter. There is a clubhouse that sells food and entertainment etc. So peaceful and the destination is just so wonderful. I can speak very highly on it as I am sure many other people can.

There are no villa areas near Universal as that area isn’t zoned for short term rental. Neither is Lake Buena Vista although you will find villas nearer to there than Universal. All villa areas have great road links to all the parks and no where is very far away.

The community map will help you choose where is best located for your stay. its very much personal choice. Im in davenport and I love the location to everything.

Location matters but quality and features of the villa matter more ...

... the four communities I stayed on before buying on I would have been happy to stay at again, or even to buy a villa on those communities, even though these communities were either older and/or further out than the communities I did buy on ...

... don't put too much weight on an extra 5-10 minutes travel time when you could be spending anywhere from 8-18 hours a day at the villa. It's the villa itself that is make or break.
