Heathrow terminal 3 Hotel
We are flying from terminal 3 in Oct half term. Rather than drive down there we are planning on getting the train to London the day before and staying at a hotel close to the airport. Is it easy enough to get to the hotel this way and which hotel will be best to stay at? I've read that the transport links are at terminal 5. Never flown from Heathrow before so any info would be great.

Transport links are at both terminal 3 and 5. Terminal 3 has the central bus station so probably has more than T5.
There is a Hilton Garden Inn attached to the terminal itself, so you can walk there from the tube station. If you go this route, make sure you book the one that specifically mentions Terminal 3 as there is another Heathrow one nearby. Otherwise there are plenty of hotels along Bath Road which runs alongside the terminal but not walkable. There's a shuttle bus (Heathrow Hoppa) that runs between the terminal and the hotels. The PI there is a popular choice. |

Thanks for this, I will have a look. It says best way to get to Heathrow from London is direct from Paddington. Are the hotels easy to get to using this service?

They always say this because the train from Paddington to Heathrow is the most expensive option.
Which station are you arriving into London at? That will determine your best option. If arriving into Euston, Kings Cross or St Pancras, your best and cheapest option is the tube, Piccadilly line direct to Heathrow. From either option, it's easy to get to the buses. Everything is well sign posted. Although I haven't used the Hoppa in years now, I normally just travel up to LHR on the day if I can't get a LGW flight option. |

Yes will be travelling to London Kings Cross. We've used underground loads of times over the years but we've never flown from London before as we live in East Midlands. Thinking of booking the Premier Inn Bath Road so wanted to make sure it was straight forward to get to hotel/Airport.

The Premier Inn is the default choice , mainly because it’s very reasonable and next door to Purple Parking. Handy if driving not so much otherwise.
I need a hotel for next week and settled instead on the Ibis Styles , it’s closer to the airport , very contemporary and almost as cheap. I picked it as I need a PCR on arrival and the cheapest option is Randox in the Raddisson car park which is almost next door but as it’s closer I’ll just Uber or jump on the public bus into the airport next morning. There’s also a MacDonald’s for breakfast just before the Raddisson I like the idea of been a little closer to the airport (and if you like watching planes you can book a 4th floor plane spotting room at no extra cost for a room with an uninterrupted view of the runway) |

Having just stayed at the PI last month and used the hoppa I would suggest that it depends on the party size.
A return journey was £10.50 and takes about 40 minutes with buses leaving on the hour from the airport. Pi is the last stop on the route. Though the return is a out 10 minutes but could be full! hotelhoppa/about-us/hotel-hoppa/ If cost effective you can get a taxi which may be cheaper, possibly even from King's Cross if you have lots of luggage. Work out the cost of the hotel and travel as it could be cheaper to stay within the airport, the hilton garden at terminal 2 for instance.

Hi Rach, when we travel to LHR, via Kings Cross, we walk outside, turn right and go down in the elevator for the tube. Do not follow the signs for the Piccadilly Line to the right, go left into the large hall area, down the stairs to the left (you'll see Piccadilly Line signed), tap your credit card, down the escalator, look to the right for the Piccadilly Line (West).
We disembark at Hounslow West, tap cc again, exit station, cross the road to bus stop and take the first of many buses that'll drop us immediately outside the Bath Road Premier Inn (known as Oxford Road, bus stop H) - ask the driver to stop there for you, they're obliging. We prefer this option to avoid the slaver of getting the bus from LHR. The following morning we take the bus outside the PI to LHR main bus station, I don't advise the hotel Hopper as it's a canny bit more than TfL (£1.55) and calls in at other hotels, at least on the service bus you know it's only going to be 10 mins. Exit the bus at LHR and go down into the tunnel for T3. Any of the staff on the bus will point the way.
