WE just used the shuttle I am pretty am surely? Off to investigate
Edited after a google. When we wen to Boston last year we stayed at T4 PI but flew from T5. We never used a bus. I think we must have shuttled it to 2 or 3 and then onto T5, not sure why though? But either way it says 20mins and free x Edited at 10:45 AM. |

The London public busses around LHR are free. There is a bus from T5 to T4 that runs frequently from the arrivals level. Once you get to T4 the premier inn is connected by a tunnel.
The other option would be to use the tube to Hatton Cross and change across the platform for a train to T4&123. This is free with an oyster or contactless card.

We did this recently but used the free train. It was very easy and you can walk from t4 train station to the hotel. (It’s down a relatively long covered walkway but definitely walkable).
We got the heathrow express to terminal T2/3 and then the Underground to T4. All very easy and free but you do need to pick up a ticket.

Cannot believe the coincidence. I booked Premier Inn T4 yesterday, 2 reasons, half the price of the one at T5, and we are picking up a rental car the next morning, and easier to walk into T4 in the covered walkway than take the bus back to T5.
Hoppa Bus is the recommended one to use - Hoppa H56 - scroll down to the H56 timetable. We do not get into T5 until after 10 at night, and this bus will be quickest option for us - and has apparently more room for luggage than the free bus. Single is £5 each and return £9 each. Alternatively T5 take heathrow express to central area (free) then use the connect train to T4 From webpage "Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 Free shuttle trains run between Heathrow Central station (Terminals 2 & 3) and Terminal 4 or Terminal 5. There are four trains an hour. Please note from 20 May 2018, to travel on the shuttle trains, you can get a free Inter-Terminal Transfer ticket from the machines in the station. You can also use an Transport for London Oyster card or a contactless payment card which will not be charged when travelling between terminals.Average journey time: 20 minutes Frequent London Underground trains also run between the terminals. The transfer is only free if you use a Transport for London Oyster card or a contactless payment card.Average journey time: 16 minutes" Just confirms what others have posted above.

The Train transfer can be a faff as you have to get one train to the T2/T3 station, then another one to T4 or T5 depending on your direction. You can wait up to 15 mins for each train to leave, so it can turn the journey into a 30 minute one. Also there are narrow barriers to get on and off the platforms, so 4 times you have to manhandle your luggage through the barriers sideways, plus the ticket barriers (Remeber to get a ticket a the machine, the journey is free, but you need a ticket)
We've also used the underground, changing at Hatton Cross, which can take same amount of time and you need your oyster card, though the journey is free. Same applies to manhandling the luggage - neither of the above methods allows you to take baggage trolleys onto the platforms. We've never tried the bus, which I know is free but don't fancy traying to get our luggage (often skis) up stairs onto buses and don't know if they have luggage racks. We've never tried the hoppa for this journey as it is expensive and the other methods are free. We do this journey quite often as we like the T4 hotels butusually travel to and from T5.
