After customs you have 3 choices:
1) if you manage all you cases without a trolley proceed directly up the escalator and take the transit to the main terminal. Go down to DME desk to check in and take the cases with you under the bus. This is the quickest option. Also the safest for luggage IMO.
2) if you can't manage all your cases then drop off the checked luggage again after customs and go to the main terminal reclaim belt to collect before heading to DME.
3) Drop off your luggage after customs and go directly to DME check in. They will ask you for your airline baggage receipts and will collect your bags and deliver them to your resort around 3 hours after you have checked into your resort. Things to remember if you use this option are that the bags go round in a public part of the terminal until Disney collects them (domestic bags have a tag so are separated before being put out on the baggage claim we do not get those tags) and also it will be a long wait when you will be tired waiting for your cases to show up.

It is nearly always better to choose option one or two. If you need assistance with luggage there are skycaps at the airport or trolleys and bell services at your resort.
Perfect, thank you so much for your detailed reply! I really appreciate it

I think we'll go for 1 - it's just the two of us so we really shouldn't have much luggage!
