I am following this with interest as we too are planning a 3 day cruise in October and the excursions for Nassau did not really grab us, but a walk through some shops and a paddle in the sea just to say we did it will suit us perfectly. Can you get back to the ship at any time or do the tenders run on a schedule?

No tenders at Nassau. Can get on and off when you like ...as long as you are back in time of course !

The first time we got off and went to Atlantis (which was enjoyable to a point but the day was cool and overcast so I think that influenced our visit).

I think we've been there twice more since and have always got off, but just stayed around the immediate area, wandered round shops and then gone to Senor Frogs for nachos and cocktails sitting over looking the port! Very pleasant way to spend a few hours!

The chocolate making excursion to the chocolate factory is great fun if you like chocolate of course😀. The water park st Atlantis is amazing but it's an expensive day. We have also done the dolphin swim which is good.
I personally was not cmfortable just getting off and walking around the port area - but that was just me
