Just booked our cruise!

We have just booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean, Anthem of the Seas, from NYC to Canada and New England, this August, will be doing 4 nights in Manhattan first, and cruise is 9 nights. We are flying Norwegian Air. Will just be myself, DH and DS 15, as oldest DS has let home

Am now busy occupying myself with dining packages, drink packages, tours etc! Excited

If anyone has sailed RCL would love any tips, feedback etc. Am also keen to know what we should be doing in ports of call, Boston, Portland, Bar Harbour, St John and Halifax.

We sailed RCL on Harmony of the Seas. I would recommend you have a look at the speciality dining package. The included meals were great but the Speciality restaurants were fantastic, especially Wonderland. It was the most delicious and unusual meal we have ever had. Also when you make bookings keep your eye on the cruise planner as when prices reduce you can cancel and rebook any extras you have purchased. There are usually sales on excursions, drinks/meal packages around holiday weekends.

Thank you thats great advice, have already looked at the dining packages, Chops grill and wonderland look amazing. We are more foodies than drinkies so will definitely try that. Didnt realise you could book and cancel if cheaper, so thanks for tip!

A lot. Think Florida prices - Cruise is around £3500 for three people, plus flights, (norwegian air not too bad) approx £1500, then spending, hotel in NYC, drink packages, tours, etc... i dread to think, but, its something we have wanted to do for a long time, so I have no regrets!

A cruise does seem expensive but that is everything for the whole week. We thought it was really good value providing all your meals and entertainment all week. Other than tips we spent less than £100 on the ship all week between the 4 of us. We don’t drink much so bought the refreshment package for £13 a night which was in a holiday sale. This was non alcoholic cocktails, speciality coffees, bottled water and sodas. We took 2 bottles of wine onboard with us. Before the holiday we bought a 3 day speciality dining package for DH and I. I think that was about £60 each, again in a sale.

It is the excursions that are expensive if you decide to do those.

Oh it sounds great Louise! Id love to do a cruise but need to work on my husband and girls who aren't so keen at the moment

I hope you'll be doing a trip report - I can use it to tempt them especially as DH has mentioned Canada and New England before!

Happy planning.

Thank you, will try to do report, it’s always nice to look back at - cruising is so addictive, just like florida! I have two holiday addicitions now! Hoping someone who has been to Canada and New England might pop up with some suggestions for us for tours.
