I've got 3rd degree burns to 30% of my body as a result of a car accident when I was a toddler. My arm and breast is affected and also have nasty skin graft sites to my thighs. I've been through the emotional trauma of coming to terms with my burns all through my teens and early tewnties and now my scars don't affect me... but that was after counselling which I recommend to if you can and I just wanted to give you a big hug because it's tough and I know so. I actually got a massive tattoo done on my thigh so that when I feel people are looking at my legs, I have programmed my brain to think "nah they are checking out your beautiful tattoo Gemma!"... seems crazy but it works for me lol.
Beginning of the year though, I had a boob reconstruction that went wrong so I am searching for nice mastectomy swimwear for our holiday which is so stressful but I'm not going to let it ruin things coz those memories last forever don't they xx

hello Gemma thank you for sharing that ... I have had a mastectomy when I had breast cancer 2 years ago and have been able to find good swimsuits from Asda, Marks and a company called Swimwear by Clover Lewis (more expensive but very good quality)they all have pockets for prosthesis ...I'm sorry your recon wasn't successful I hope you managed to get sorted soon and painlessly xxx

i was in a Q at Typhoon behind a whole family of americans dressed in what i assumed were UV suits including trousers, think skin suit rather than baggy type

may have been on religious grounds but either way they were ok on the slides as they went before us..

pretty sure you can wear UV tops but not t shirts so assume leg wear the same?

I have large abdominal & arm scars but I don't cover them. They are part of who I am and without them I wouldn't be here.
I had life saving surgery at 6 weeks old so have never been anything different, which I am sure is why they don't bother me. People are all different. I do however make sure I always use high factor sunblock on them.
Cover them if you feel more comfortable or leave them bare for all to see .I always think people are too worried about their own bodies to care about mine. I doubt anyone will ask about your attire provided it's free of buttons/zips
