Rearranging days around Toy Story Mania

Annoyingly Toy Story Mania is closing for a week, 11th - 18th June.

This means the only way we'll get on Toy Story Mania in our first week is to go there on our first day instead of Magic Kingdom.

Worth the swap or is it sacrilege to not do Magic Kingdom on the opening day?

Which park do you guys normally do on your first day?

Oh we are in a similar boat to you. Our first full day has EMH at MK (opening at 8am) so obviously it has to be done however, HS has EMH (opening at 7am!). We are so torn on what to do 🤔. Our FP date is fast approaching too.

Nightmare! Could you not go for 7am to HS to get on TSM st rope drop, then park hop over to MK? Bit of a faff I know but could be a solution, and you could use all your FPs at MK.

Good thinking we may just do that 👍. I'm guessing all the new rides in Toy Story Land will be open first thing but the chances of getting on them are something else!

Is TSM accepting FPs again before closure, or is it still standby only? If you can FP it, I'd book one in the afternoon and head to MK first thing before park hopping to HS. Otherwise do the reverse, rope drop TSM then get the first bus over to MK.

But to answer your question, I don't think you HAVE to do MK as the first park. I have AK as mine.

We are in the same boat, we're there until 23/6 so we're hoping they may have some soft openings of the new area once they reopen TSM. I thought the same as you about changing everything around but I've decided against it, just keeping our fingers crossed that we get a sneaky last minute FP. We did finally manage a FOP FP this week so you never know!

I think even the best laid plans have to be open to flexibility.
We binned our entire schedule after Day 2 because of Hurricane Irma and just played everything by ear (except KSC) which luckily reopened on the day we had booked.

Why not a half day in HS then half day in MK to end the day.
Best of both and you could return the following day for MK opening.

Last year we planned Epcot on first day. However we decided at last minute to go over to MK for the last couple of hours on arrival evening.

I would definitely swap if it meant would not be able to get to HS otherwise.
