Quality of cot beds in villas?
I understand that, for 'insurance purposes', they're only allowed to provide travel cots - I've experienced some pretty ropey ones before where you can easily feel the bars on the mattress and (little princess and the pea that she is!) DD can't sleep on these - to be honest, I think once they've been used a few dozen times they tend to get a bit poor (or maybe it's an age thing!) - before I pay money to hire one, are they good quality or hit and miss? Am tempted to try and make a 'pen' with a mattress on the floor, instead!

I tned to agree with you somewhat...there are very high qualiry ones but do not have much of a mattress
i have bought a mattress for the one a have at the villa So you could even try that if you ar out there and it is insufficient I bought from Burlington Factory Coat Warehouse...but you could try BabiesR Us or similar.. Do not think it is an horrendous expense and would probably be worth it... Are you renting the villa privately ...inwhich case ask the owner and tell of your experiences..and maybe they can tell you more Or if it is a TO rental you will just have to wait till you are there..and take the cot make and name and dimensions in to the shop ...and see what they can do..it has obviously got to fit perfectly! Good luck with your holiday ...I am sure it will be fine how ever you sort it!

Thanks Susan; it's with a travel agent - have never seen cot mattresses that fit those travel cots, so it would be great if they're out there. We don't have to give much notice of wanting one, so will see how little one is sleeping a bit nearer the time!

I needed two when we hired a villa (twins!) and I was really worried they may be rubbish, but in fact they were both of excellent quality and an extra mattress wasn't needed.
Hope you get lucky too. |

Ive had two experiences with travel cots, on our privatly hired villa was wonderful, they knew all about my dd being prem and her problems and everything was brand new, they had replaced everything new just for us.
And on a package holiday one we complained at the management company about the state of it and they brought a brand new one over, she wouldnt sleep in it and we hired a full size one in the end for her which was delivered within hours. |

Thanks for that - I have to say, she's struggling to sleep in her own cot bed at the moment (hopefully shortlived - need sleep) and just not sure she'd sleep in a travel cot - where did you hire a full size one from, please? And how much was it (roughly)? Got to pay for the travel cot, so don't want to end up paying twice!
