Why you would need a pencil with a cassette tape.

TV rental, having to remember the CoOp number and being in big trouble if you forgot it (47689 by the way). Also buying savings stamps each week, with a picture of Princess Anne on them. I used to have to collect my gran’s pension each Week from the post office. She gave me half a crown, on the condition that I spent 6d of it on a savings stamp.

What is it about the Co-op Divi number that it sticks in our minds for so long that we remember them even now (mums and grandma's in my case). Do you remember going home with the tiny chitty with the number on - woe betide you if you lost it.

It was the very early forerunner of Tesco Clubcard without the "Big Brother" tracking and when the "Divi" was paid it was a major event and provided a very good return so a valuable source of income for many.

Having to buy 24 or 36 exposure camera films, being selective about what you photographed then having to wait to get them developed only to find out most were blurred!

Green Shield stamps...spending hours sticking them in the books and then deciding what to buy with them!
