Travelling from NI, through London Heathrow - return day 2 tests help!

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation or has any insight. I live in Northern Ireland, but will be flying to Orlando from and returning to London Heathrow. As I am technically returning to England from the US and not NI, can I use the antigen test for day 2 or because I’m from NI does it have to be PCR as our rules haven’t changed yet?

I'm going that route but not until June so just looking on with interest.
I'd imagine BA will be best placed to advise if that's who you're travelling with.

Sorry, can't help but we are in a similar position with our friend from Ireland flying over here to meet the rest of us, then we are all going together from Heathrow the following day, so I'll be following along with interest

I'm on the same route. Belfast-Heathrow-Orlando on November 25th and return December 10th. I haven't booked our 2 day return tests yet as the NI rule may change to lateral flow tests by then. England and Wales are lateral flow and Scotland announced yesterday I believe they'll be moving to lateral flow too.

Edited at 10:32 AM.

Would imagine with the rest of the home nations moving to LFT that NI will follow suit as the approach should be a 4 nations combined one

I will indeed. I also didn't want to book the return tests until we have the results of our pre departure tests. Just in case.

I would think it's going to depend on your ticket since it is the airline that will be checking requirements based on flight destination. So if you're ticketed through to Belfast, I suspect they'll be using NI rules. But if you're only ticketed to Heathrow and doing a separate journey to Belfast, I would think they're checking against the English rules.

But I agree that I think it will be standardised across the nations. So hopefully it won't be a concern soon enough.

Think this has already been discussed with those flying the Scotland - LHR - MCO route.

The opinions seemed to be divided as to following the English rules or the Scottish ones.

Personally flying this route in January and intend to get the cheapest as the only time the PLF form will be asked for is in London.

Although I hope that all four nations will be singing from the same hymn book by then.

I’m flying from Belfast city to Heathrow & then onto Seattle all with BA so I’m following along. I assume we’ll be changing to LFT soon as we’ll be the odd ones out!
