Kennedy Space Shuttle Launch
Hi
Does anyone know if you can just pay to watch the shuttle launch, or do you have to pay to go to the Kennedy Space Centre as well ? Thanks |

Confused.com... The Shuttle doesn't fly anymore.
From NASA: NASA's space shuttle fleet began setting records with its first launch on April 12, 1981 and continued to set high marks of achievement and endurance through 30 years of missions. Starting with Columbia and continuing with Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour, the spacecraft has carried people into orbit repeatedly, launched, recovered and repaired satellites, conducted cutting-edge research and built the largest structure in space, the International Space Station. The final space shuttle mission, STS-135, ended July 21, 2011 when Atlantis rolled to a stop at its home port, NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

There are no more shuttle launches. The shuttle programme has ended now. Not sure about rockets etc tho.
They have built and have nearly completed a shuttle exhibition centre at Kennedy.

If you go to Kennedy you'll have to pay to go in, but you can see launches from miles away. I know people stop on the roads to watch (but probably shouldn't).

I've no idea tbh, might be worth checking if there are any when you plan on visit, they normally tell you on the nasa website nasa.gov/missions/highlights/schedule.html
They have info on viewing a launch too here : nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/...s/viewing.html

I use this website spacecoastlaunches and I see that there is a launch of a Delta4 rocket on 22nd May but it's not mentioned on the NASA launch schedule. Could this be because it's a military payload?
We'll be in Cocoa Beach that week and wondered if we would see it from the beach in front of our hotel? (Doubletree). Any ideas anyone? |
