best prices for car hire

been checking a few places for car hire prices Oct/Nov and they are all pretty high
checked Alamo using TCB
Alamo brits
the BA glitch
virgin holidays

I have heard good things about Andy - I think from discount florida car hire but ironically can't find the link he was mentioned in - does anyone have a contact email for him please?

Also if I prepay for an Alamo booking and subsequently want to cancel as I find the price cheaper. has anyone had any problems getting their money back? if not how long roughly does it take to receive the refund?
Thank you

This is Andy's site and he's a very helpful chap:

discountfloridacarhire/

No deposit required, so can cancel anytime.

Alamo Brits are coming in very expensive, I found Alamo through Virgin Holidays were the best at the moment (at least for my summer holiday dates).

We used Auto Europe last year and if their prices drop, you just ring them and they credit your account with the difference (haven't checked their prices for this year).

Thanks for this just checked and ironically so far Alamo brits are still showing the cheapest for my dates and can also get further discount by paying up front but wanted to know how that works if you have to cancel ?

Alamo - £564.96
alamo brits - £503.70
VH - £672.62

Brits want £748.61 for standard SUV, whereas Virgin only £436 (when I booked earlier this week, showing £448 today). This is late July, early August.

£300 difference is appalling IMO for a live comparison

absolutely - they are more around the same price when I checked but I would have thought they would be cheaper in Oct/nov than school holidays - I don't get it!
