Flights booked through Google Flights

Does anyone know if flights booked via GF are ticketed immediately? And the airline references available immediately?

Each time I've looked, the purchase was going to be made directly on the airline's site.

A banner appears with, eg., Book with American and a continue button.

I am generally reluctant to use third parties for flights, but they do seem cheaper at the minute - particularly since yesterday when TC went down.
