Yeah, I've had a few emails like that and also a few genuine phone calls from Sky which didn't make me think it was a scam initially. I'm thinking now it possibly was, but I think they might have some access to my account which is concerning me due to some of the information that was given.

It also didn't come from a blocked number, otherwise I wouldn't have answered it.

If it was a scam then they spent 10 minutes talking to a bemused me who was very insistent I wasn't giving them any money and trying to get to the bottom of what they were selling me, which was ten minutes less scamming someone who might've fallen for it and would've handed over their direct debit/credit card details!

My friend had the same call last week. It's a scam, just block the number.

Don't forget, Sky recently had some kind of hacking event whereby we all had to change our log in details.

Thank you to duchy for looking into it for me and confirming it WAS a scam call. I never usually give out credit card details over the phone so glad I didn't this time either.

Does Sky have a free phone number? I don't want to be on hold and get charged for it

When genuine big name brands call existing customers to either upgrade them or add new products then they usually, if you agree add it to a bill.
The only thing I have ever paid for over a “cold call” was for an order that I had placed that had failed to process a payment. They would still give you the option of just calling in directly to make the payment if it was genuine as people who do outbound are very aware of others who scam and how much that can make the customer feel uneasy.
