How many DVC points for a Disney cruise?

we got talking to a coule of dvc members last year on our cruise and they werer saying it was a lot

I think it works out cheaper to rent your points and use the money to pay for the cruise!

We have booked a 3 night cruise with our disney points. It probably would have been cheaper to rent the points and use the money for the cruise but I didn't want the hassle.

It has cost us 230 points for a 3 nights cruise, category 11, that's for 2 adults and 2 kids.

We are going on the 7 night western cruise in December and have booked a Cat 9 Deluxe outside cabin and it has cost us 318 points.
