Glad you were able to scatter the ashes but it must have been hard.

I did have to laugh at the teenagers needed you to fix the WiFi from across the Atlantic. What else are we parents for?

Ahh, so glad you got to scatter the ashes.
😂😂😂😂 mini mini toiletries and sitting cross from the loo block- you can't make that stuff up!
Looking forward to more...

What an emotional start, you both must have been so worried about the kids at home, glad it all sorted itself out though. What a lovely place to scatter your MIL ashes too. Looking forward to the next day

I know, we have our uses ! Just so funny as its the ultimate threat isn't it , cutting off the internet and then it went and happened - spooky huh. Imagine if it hadn't come back on

It was lovely to be able to take her back to that spot. It was emotional but in a good way. I'm pleased we did it.

I know of all the blimmin cafes and we had the least scenic view ever - but it was lovely overall. And I hadn't packed many toiletries as I was banking on hotel supplies - so these were a bit stingy

Yes after that hiccup it went fine which was all credit to him coping on his own - he is off to uni in Sept so a good trial run in fending for himself That spot on the beach was lovely - so peaceful - perfect

What an emotional morning for you both. So lovely that you were able to do that.

Did the kids think you'd turned the internet off remotely because of the "gathering" at your house? That's hilarious!

Sounds like today was a bit of a mixed bag, what with the rain and the traffic, but the food you had all looked fab

Ha ha ha, I read 8:30am and went 'wow, that's amazing for the first day' then read on

How lovely to be able to take the ashes to somewhere that was clearly so fondly remembered, I'm sure the emotion surrounding this made the no-reply from home so much worse! Love that the internet need fixing from 4000 miles away though

Loving your report and it's humour - trying to rein in how much I read in one go though to make it last longer!

Amanda! What a day!
That's so sweet that you found that spot.
That must've been tough.

Sorry about all the difficulties.
Kids eh? !
That outlets looked lovely though.
And the dinner too.

Really enjoying this trippie. 😊

Lol, yeah the coincident timing of the spat and Internet ... Definitely thought it was a deliberate thing Too funny. It was a mixed day but some real highlights , tiredness just makes things all out of proportion sometimes.

Ah thank you, it was hard but also good too. We think back fondly, not with sadness.
Omg as you say, kids, love ' em

Thank you, it's certainly a different sort of trip

It must have been a bittersweet day today, but glad you got to take Andy’s Mum back to the beach for one final time.

Have giggled away at the internet problem at home. Hope you didn’t tell them that you hadn’t done anything with it!

A fabulous dinner tonight at Shula’s. Have never had one of their steaks so will have to look out for it on future travels.

It sounds like today was stressful for all sorts of reasons. I'm so glad it worked out for scattering Andy's mums ashes, how lovely to take her back to a place she enjoyed.

Haha, karma indeed with the wi-fi problem for Jamie for having an unauthorised "shindig". It is worrying leaving them though, we recently left Eilidh (same age as Jamie I think) for 2 nights home alone while we went to Edinburgh. On the first night I couldn't get a reply from her at all, when we eventually got hold of her she had bailed out to my sisters because she didn't like being home alone She did go home to sleep in the end though.

Your steaks look lovely, were you glad you made the journey despite being so tired?
