Upgrading to Annual Pass

We upgraded our tickets to an annual pass today and I know there have been a few questions lately so thought I would post our experience.

We paid £348 each from Orlando Attraction Tickets back at Xmas time for 14day ultimates.
We arrived on Saturday & haven’t had a chance to ask until today.

We stopped at the guest relations/tickets booth inside Hollywood Studios and upgraded for $63 each plus tax.

We bought the gold pass as we are also DVC members. It would’ve cost us $589. We won’t be travelling during the blockout dates. We aren’t bothered about water parks and hadn’t done either of the water parks since we arrived.

We already have a trip booked for next year so we’re very happy.

Thanks for this as I'm trying to decide what I want to do about Disney. I getting an annual pass for universal but not sure about Disney as I am only there for a week so didn't need an ultimate ticket.

However if it is cost effective to upgrade then maybe I will

$589 the cost if you weren’t DVC ? How much did count do you get as dvc sorry to ask just in pan to do mine in 4 weeks time but we’re not DVC

I think the gold pass is only available for DVC and Florida residents.

If you are neither then I think the only ones you can purchase or upgrade to are the Platinum Plus Pass $829 or Platinum Pass $749.

He scanned our magic bands, noted we were DVC then asked which one we wanted. We were quite happy to lose the water park & golf option. Even more so for $63

Exactly what we said. Had it been too much we wouldn’t have bothered but there’s no harm in asking.
Hollywood Studios was the only place we asked but I know there has been some inconsistency in prices across the parks lately

Funnily enough I’m here now and I’ve asked every day at the different parks what the upgrade price is for my 14 day ultimate into a DVC gold AP and every time I am getting quoted the same price of $176. I got my 14 day ultimate directly from Disney so OP I think you’ve struck gold with your upgrade price (excuse the pun!)

Wow, sounds like we have been lucky. We walked past the booth a couple of times and there was a huge queue but it had died down later on so decided to ask. When he said $63 I had to double check and then we bought them quickly in case he changed his mind

Thought it might be useful to add my experience of trying to upgrade over the last two weeks. I’ve got a 14 day ultimate ticket and I’ve been trying to upgrade to a DVC gold pass. I’ve tried around 7 times at various guest services across the parks and each and every time I’ve been quoted c$178. I’ve even showed them this thread on the Dibb and they’ve just shrugged their shoulders. It’s my last day today and walking out of Epcot I tried again and still no luck. So my last opportunity was at guest relations outside of the park at 8:55pm just before closing. To be honest I was shattered and just asked again for an upgrade at $62 like everyone else. She went away quietly and then just started processing the AP with no fuss. She explains that the reason why others will have quoted the higher amount is because they will have assumed that I had used the ‘added fun’ water park addition which I had not done and that is the difference. Whether that’s the truth or not god only knows but hopefully that explanation might help others who are facing the same issue I’ve had.

So the moral of the story is don’t give up and keep trying!

Ah I’m glad you got it sorted in the end. We must’ve just hit on lucky at the right time. We hadn’t used water park or golf but he didn’t ask, just asked me to scan my magic band.
