I’ve booked lasik for next month! What was it like afterwards for you all? I’m getting it done in Newcastle and I’d like to get Taco Bell afterwards but will I be up for it? What’s walking around like?

I had mine done about 15 years ago so the technology may have changed since then, but I could barely open my eyes, especially once outside in the sunlight. My eyes were watering so much. My mum took me straight home and I had a nap. I woke up a couple of hours later and my eyes were much better by then.
Good luck with it. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made. |

They advise you to bring sunglasses to leave in and avoid bright lights. I went home and straight to bed to give them a good rest.

From memory I think we went straight home after my wife picked me up, then I went to bed for the rest of the day.
Was wearing sunglasses inside to help with the brightness (I then found that ski goggles were even better.) |

I am desperate to get mine done, been to 3 different places and got turned down from them all because my prescription is too high (Im a -11) hoping the technology improves even more over the years so I can get them done eventually.

I got told to put on sunglasses and go straight home, I just rested my eyes for the rest of the day/slept. I certainly wouldn’t be going to Taco Bell unless someone was driving me and I was staying in the car with my eyes closed, I don’t think the optician would recommend it either.

Best thing I ever did and that was in 2007! No issues at all, still got great distance eyesight although the last 12 months I’m starting to lose a little on reading but that’s age related as I’ve hit my mid 40’s

I was straight home (Wearing sun glasses) to a slightly darkened room and that’s where I stayed the remainder of the day listening to audio books and resting. I’d doubt you’d feel comfortable enough to be out and about! Was given a sleeping pill In case but didn’t need it as wasn’t in pain. I recall waking up the next morning, looking out of the window and realising I could read the street name without Glasses!

Unless something has massively changed in the last twelve years, that is a definite no! You won’t want to go for a meal afterwards and won’t be up for it. You will wear sunglasses and will need to go directly home and go straight to bed, you will need to rest your eyes for the rest of the day. Initially vision will be blurred like you are looking through water and it would not be comfortable walking around.
We were not particularly close to where we had our surgeries done and especially as it was necessary it go back the next morning, we booked a nearby hotel for the night of our surgeries, about two weeks apart. My husband put me to bed on my surgery day, then went out and occupied himself for the rest of the day and vice versa. Edited at 04:24 AM. |
