Mobile Universal Annual Pass/upgrade (another one- sorry!)

I am trying to convince DH that an annual pass will make sense if we get to go this year (25/07 - 20/08). We will want to go to VB (mainly as I think WDW will be off the table due to cost/restrictions).

So I’m thinking:

Buy 1 x annual pass now (to get parking etc)

Buy 6 x UK 14 day passes - use in VB first week, then look to upgrade to seasonal pass after 1st August

So my question is - is this possible? Or can we not upgrade if we have used the 14 day ticket?

Also, next year we may want to go earlier (DD3 would have finished GCSEs) can you foresee any issues if we just buy the cheaper pass?

Many thanks 😊

When you upgrade to the annual pass from the 14day ticket, the annual term starts from the first day you entered the parks on those tickets (so if your first park day is on 25th July, your annual passes will be backdated to start then)

So yes you can, Power is the lowest "grade" for free parking, you pay for you first day because you don't have your pass until picking it up. Only issue I can see is that if you were to buy the AP with the current extra 3 months offer, if this offer isn't on when you upgrade then the remaining 6 are 12 months duration- not sure if this changes/effects your plans?

I think the issue here is the blackout dates for VB on the annual passes. Unless you’re planning on upgrading to the premier pass?

Was hoping to only need to purchase the one premier pass, the rest I was hoping would be the cheapest ones possible.

Here are the blackout dates for the seasonal pass. (Cheapest )
Blockout Dates for Universal’s Volcano Bay:
March 27 – April 10, 2021
June 11 – August 15, 2021, normally around the same dates every year. I would also email universal and have it confirmed in writing to see if you can upgrade to annual pass if you have activated your 14 day ticket at volcano bay.

I’ll be surprised if they allow you to upgrade the U.K. tickets to annual passes if you’ve been in volcano bay during the blackout dates. Happy to be proven wrong though.

Hi, I upgraded my sons 14 day explorer pass to a season pass at christmas 2019. We had been in the parks on black out days and were still able to upgrade on the day we left (christmas eve)
hope this helps

You can upgrade your 14 day tickets even if you have been to VB but it has to be to a 3 park AP, you used to be able to upgrade a 3 park 14 day ticket to a 2 park AP but they stopped that a couple of years ago.
