We had to pay as our son’s teeth just fell outside the threshold for being bad enough to qualify for NHS. Cost us £1750 for top and bottom fixed braces. We are in Warwickshire

The first evening appears to have gone without major discomfort which is good. I've bought in plenty of iceream and treats!

We were given the wax stuff after the fitting and I've stockpiled some paracetamol...so will see what tomorrow brings!

I had these after my braces as a teenager and they are not visible at all, go on the back of your teeth. My teeth all moved out of place together in my adult years though (despite the fixed retainer) and I now have Invisalign braces to repair the movement. I will get a fixed retainer plus a night time retainer after these and when my dd gets hers off next month I’m going to ask for the same, even if I have to pay for them.

Dd14 has fixed braces and has been brilliant with them. Plenty of wax to hand if needed, then ulcer cream, paracetamol and ibuprofen. After they are tightened they hurt for a couple of days, so it's soft squishy food and nothing that needs biting into, she has said that each time they are tightened they hurt less.
I took photos at the very beginning, it was good for her to be able to see and compare the changes, especially if she was having a day where they were getting her down a bit. She is about half way through the treatment and they look amazing!
