Sandford
Roughly how long does it take to get though immigration and baggage collect here?
Then how long does it take to get into your hire car and on the move? |

Sanford is a quiet airport so immigration is very quick once through baggage and customs the car hire is across the road.
They don't have skip the counter at sanford with Alamo, so it will depend on how many get there before you- if you are using Alamo - I think Thomson use Alamo (assume you are flying Thomson), so if you are doing the car hire yourself it could be quicker to book a different company, but personally I would go with the cheapest. Sanford is around a hours drive to the Attractions area- only drawback really is its further out that MCO - but it is an easy drive on a toll road.

Last August we waited maybe 20mins at immigration, no queue at either Thomson office or Alamo so we were driving away within an hour and in the villa pool about 2 hours after landing.

It took us 20-30 minutes to get off the plane and through immigration. 5 minute wait for cases. First off the plane to reach the Alamo desk and took 5 minutes to process it. Picked car and was on the road within an hour of stepping off the plane. Loved how quick it was and we are waiting for Thomson to release flights for next September so we can go again with them. Such a painless experience. Must add, we were in PE and were one of first 20 people of the plane.

Sanford is brilliant for arriving as its so much smaller than MCO you get through immigration a lot quicker, we've never had an issue with a large queue for car hire. The downside is when you are departing as there isn't as much to keep you occupied whilst your waiting for your flight, but again you get through the TSA security checks a lot quicker with less stress.

it all depends on where you are in the queue after getting off the plane!
if youre right at the back of the plane, it can add up to half an hour to the total time. more if another plane has landed just before you and they havent cleared the queue yet (doesnt happen very often these days though) normally though it takes *about* half an hour from getting off the plane to driving away in your hire car, although i've managed it in 20 minutes once, and another time was about an hour the time saved makes up for being about half an hour longer drive away from disney than MCO |

We used Alamo and can thoroughly recommend them. Booked with Alamo Brits. The lot we were choosing from had only two vehicles to choose from and we asked about the model we had actually booked with the lady patrolling the lots. She asked us to wait a moment while she checked and soon came through with top of the range Chrysler 300 with built in sat nav. Was a lovely car for our two week stay.
On return we were quite early in returning and the staff actually drove us to the departure terminal. Excellent service and very friendly staff.
