La Hacienda De San Angel (Epcot - Mexico)

Hi,

Has anyone eaten here please? Is it worth it - we are not on the dining plan - just wondered if it is worth a try and what the quality of the food is like?

Also does anyone know of a good replacement for "Sweet Tomatoes" where we could get a healthy salad option when the large portions get too much for us?

Thanks in advance.

The food and atmosphere are good - we had a problem with our bill but I think it was the individual server who made the mistake. Just don't do what I did and eat all of the guacamole before trying to eat your entree

Interested in this too. I love mexican food and we've booked into here for our 2nd day in November for lunch. Looking forward to hearing some recommendations.

We ate here back in 2019 and it was honestly one of my favourite meals of the trip. I would highly recommend booking a table during the fireworks. The restaurant turns down the lights and you pretty much have a great view from every table due to the large windows overlooking the lake. I would definitely go back again.

We ate there in 2019 and liked it.

Here was my review

We had an 8pm reservation and I knew some tables had a fireworks view and some didn’t. I’ve got illuminations scheduled loads so I didn’t bother to ask for one.

It’s a lovely place.

This was our view

Menu

I had a sangria and Dh had a beer. Ds had a Diet Coke

They brought chips and salsa to the table. These were very good.

We ordered the Queso fundido to start, this was really good and cheesy.

Ds had the shrimp tacos and loved these.

Dh had the pollo pastor. He enjoyed the chicken but wasn’t sure about some of the other stuff on his plate. I thought it was lovely.

I had the steak. The flavours were nice and it was cooked well but I don’t think I’d have it again, however, the corn mashed potatoes were amazing!

Just after main course illuminations started and they turn the lights off and pipe in the music. We didn’t have a perfect view but it was lovely.

For dessert ds and I had the empanada with apple and ice cream. This was gorgeous, so light and the ice cream was so creamy.

Dh had the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. He loved it.

This would have been $170 but with the dining plan it was $14 plus the tip.

Thank you for all your replies, but -

I think I have the wrong place... I am looking for the restaurant indoors that looks like it is night all through the day - does anyone know what that restaurant is called?

Thank you

It’s the San angel inn.
I assumed you meant this one as forgot about the other one!

We ate at the indoor one a couple of years ago and it was very atmospheric and we really enjoyed the food as with all things Disney it was more expensive than typical Mexican restaurants outside the parks.
I personally found it a little too dark and struggled to read the menu and see my food but I do have sight problems. The tables were also quite close together but this may have changed since Covid. We would certainly eat there again. Hope this helps a bit.

Like you we want to try and find an alternative for Sweet Tomatoes so following the thread with interest. Someone suggested that Panera Bread do a good range of salads and soups but we haven't tried there yet.

I have seen some really good reviews- tim Tracker,WDW Couple but haven't personally eaten here, once ( & only once) have eaten indoors- easily the most flavourless Mexican meal we have ever eaten!
