Cuban fun...with Colin!
Had a little lye in today. Had breakfast at the buffet, omelette, french toast and fresh fruit washed down with coffee. We watched the gardener cutting down the coconuts, wouldn't want one of them to fall on my head!
Got our usual spot on the beach and chilled. The sea was so calm and clear today, the best yet. Even the locals commented. We could hear steel drums being played and investigated...it looks like we're having a beach party! BBQs set up, band ready to play, coconuts being prepared for drinking from! Wowsers! But first we had a ride booked on the catamaran! It was amazing, Manuel took us out and was so lovely. The waters were crystal clear and we even got to feed some fish. Such a great experience. GoPro footage that I managed to screenshot! We popped up to the party and had pulled pork rolls, chicken fresh from the BBQ, banana chips and rice/beans. I got myself a fresh coconut which I promptly filled with pina colada and christened him Colin! We finished off with churros and other local desserts which was basically pastries and sugar, yum! Went for a lye down in the shade where we slept for an hour or so, then went for a refreshing swim in the sea. Such an idyllic time... Checked in via the wifi with people back home and bought more gifts in the hotel shop. Chilled on the beach until it was time to get ready for our evening meal at the Italian restaurant tonight...tiramisu here I come! For starter DH had bruschetta and I had salmon followed by minestrone soup. For mains DH had beef in mushroom sauce, mash, onions and I had red pesto fusilli. For pud I had my fave, tiramisu washed down with red wine and coffee (not at the same time though!) It was all very, very good Went to Piano Bar, we ended up singing we were those annoying holidaymakers... We sampled the grasshopper cocktail Went to watch the Cuban show, we expected dancing but it was more singing so we went back to our room. Saw our friend, crabby who we named Clyde. He was fascinating to watch, his left claw was the biggest one so with his right claw he was cutting the grass and feeding himself. I tried to record him but he scurried back into his hole... We had spotted a large hole under a palm tree so walked up to see what was hiding there...another crab at twice the size! I did feel a little scared as I've seen how fast they run and I hate spiders and crabs are a hard version of them really! We named crab 2, Rock as he's about the size of Dwayne Johnson! DH attempted to get a video as he seriously was a beast! Watched a programme on sharks which probably isn't the best idea being by the ocean...

Another delightful day - lots of sun, food and cocktails! What more do you need on a holiday! 🍹🥗🍷
The crabs are certainly substantial- do they eat them?

The cocktails...so good! Not sure on the crab. Lots of lobster but I never noticed crab apart from the soup/bisque |
