The last couple of trips we’ve used Uber/Lyft with no issues. We get a car only when absolutely necessary, which next year will be for the drive up from Miami then for a few days on the coast. Whilst in Orlando we really don’t need or want a car.

That said we do always stay onsite, if offsite I may think differently.

Think it really depends on your plans, and Uber can easily add up quite a bit as well. If you are staying offsite can easily be $30-$45 depending where you are staying, if you want to go to universal, bush gardens, Kennedy, obviously further you go more it’s going to be. An uberxl right now will only seat 4 people, so you may need more than one depending on the size of your party.

Personally even with the high rates (which aren’t too bad if you book with say autoeurope and don’t pickup from MCO) you get a huge amount of freedom, go back to your villa/hotel during the day then pop back to the parks in the evening, restaurants back and forth. You’d be surprised at home much it adds up.

We did ooh and ahh about Uber/Lyft opposed to car hire, for a whole half hour or so.
We plumped for car hire, despite the price.
The freedom is worth it to us.

Also, my concern was, given the cost of car hire, are the prices of Uber/Llyft going to go up to take advantage?
