Use year
I'm basically money in hand, ready to pounce once the right contract comes up for us, but i'm struggling (STILL) to get my head around use year.
If we regularly want to travel to Disney in september/October, what is the best use year to look for? Is something like April too early? I really feel absolutely idiotic that I can't see to get my head around it. |

My advice would be to choose a UY that means if you had to cancel last minute that you could bank your points, so I 'think' April would be fine.
I have a February UY and have until the end of September to bank, owned for 19 years now and we mostly travelled in May & August so it was fine, not that we ever did cancel a trip until last year. Now that the kids are older, DH & I tend to choose different times of year so do bear in mind the long term and how your needs may change if you can.

BTW don't feel idiotic, I still constantly ask other owner friends questions that I should really know the answer to!

Sept/oct travellers with a Jun UY, in it's basic form you just need to make sure you if for any reason you need to cancel, that you are out with the 4 months non-banking window. The only time that it has caused a problem for us is trying to plan a holiday before our new allocation- we are always in deficit so need the new UY to have started.
Apr or Jun would be my advice SD

OP if you’re looking to travel in September/October I think I’d look ideally for August, September or June UYs (in that order).
That said it’s only a potential issue if you have to cancel a trip beyond your banking date, and don’t want to rent the reservation/points. Which resort are you looking to buy into? |

Excited about Disney

Best use year would be September, then August and then June as others have stated. With the April use year you would still have until the end of November to bank your points if you ever canceled one of your trips.
