Fellow dibbers... dilema... my DD friend is kindly going to look after our animals ( guinea pig, rabbit and 2 hens) while we are away for 3 weeks. He will be coming to check & feed them every day and I was wondering how much to pay him ? Any ideas his 16.

An hour minimum wage a day would be £6 X 21, so does £100 sound reasonable? He's making quite a commitment for 3 weeks, and it's enabling you to go away with peace of mind

Maybe rather than cash there would be something he would really like you to bring back for him as a thankyou gift. What does your DD think?

Why not ask him if he wants paying or is there is anything he wants from America instead (trainers etc)

If he wants payment go for £5 a day unless you think that is too much.

We have a dog/house sitter in when we go away and it is £32 a day so £5 for him to pop in isn't to bad.

Do you have a figure in mind?

And there's me looking after next door's 2 dogs for a week for nothing But I love doing it and I know they can't afford to pay somebody, so I don't mind

My sixteen year old wouldn't expect anything like £100, presuming he doesn't have to travel a long way, surely feeding the pets wouldn't take an hour each time?

I pay my friends 16 year old £50 for 2 weeks to look after 1 cat. If the cat had alitter tray I'd pay more. She's delighted with that amount aside essymoney andits half what I'd pay petpals
