Receeding gums.

Hi,
Apologies for the not particularly pleasant subject matter but I was wondering if anyone suffers from receeding gums?
If so, what products do you use to help reduce discomfort and prevent further damage? Toothpaste, mouthwash etc.

I'm pretty sure this has happened to a couple of lower teeth (quite possibly due to over vigorous brushing). I have a dentist appointment but it's not for a couple of weeks and the gum area below the teeth are feeling a little tender/bruised.

Thanks.

I use Sensodyne in a morning and Corsodyl at night. Corsodyl mouthwash but at least an hour after brushing. I had a deep clean at the dentist a couple of weeks ago and have check ups every 3 months. I was lucky in that my dentist (NHS) was open throughout last year and is monitoring it carefully. I also use a water flosser every day.
I have been silly in the past due to my fear of dentists !

If I don't floss the gum disease returns, so make sure you floss every day - my dentist & hygentist recommend the little brushes, but I just use normal floss. On top of this there is Corsodyl daily mouthwash which contains a little of the active ingredient in the more medicinal Corsodyl. The latter is really useful if I have a flare up, but it stains so don't use it all the time. The other key thing is to visit the hygentist every three months for a deep clean.

Colgate have a newish toothpaste called Gum Invigorate they also do a mouthwash in the same range, tastes a bit unusual but seems to really help.
Dentist also suggested smearing a little toothpaste on your teeth and gums when you go to bed at night and not rinsing.

If you smoke, give up it destroys the small blood vessels.
Are you on medication that affects dental health ie anti epileptics?
See your dentist who will recommend toothpaste/medical mouth washes/antibiotics if needed, use interdental brushes, dental hygienist every 3 months.

Someone on here recommended Gengigel to me. I have the mouthwash which I use once a day and a gel which I apply if I have any problem areas. It's really helped me. (I struggle with Corsodyl for some reason)

Thanks you. I'll try your suggestions. I've always had yearly check ups but haven't been since June 2019 as our surgery closed during lockdown and has only just started taking bookings again.
I'm sure the dentist will provide me with advice when I see her in a couple of weeks.
