I could have written this, its exactly the same with our relatives. Daren't even bring Disney up or they all look at each other and start rolling their eyes.
Never get asked any questions and never get asked if we had a good time.
I really dont understand why anyone would care so much about where we spend our holidays. I dont care where they go... ho hum, such is life...

However can I just add as it comes up so many times on here that just because you holiday in Europe that it does not mean you sit round the pool or on the beach for the entire two weeks ! You are not locked into hotels - you can hire cars , take organised trips etc . Sorry it just infuriates me as much as other people get infuriated by people slating Florida . People shouldn’t judge anyone’s holidays that’s what it comes down too.
Totally agree with this. I went to Florida for my once i a lifetime trip in 2016. Yes I loved it, do now and again get the Disney Blues but honestly I prefer my Spanish holidays. I've been traveling to SPain for over 30 years, it's like a home from home for us, most of the time there we spend around the pool or at the beach, we go out in the evenings, and we do day trips, markets etc also. We don't hire cars, as we're on holiday. I work in a school and don't want to be rushing here there and everywhere, I enjoy my relaxing holidays after running round after 32 5 years olds for the past 10 months.
I can't justify the amount of money that is spent to get to Florida and then the extras once there, it's cheaper for me to spain for 2 weeks and have nice relaxing meals out in the evenings etc.
The amount I paid for my holiday when I came home I was disgusted as it could have gotten me my driving lessons and payment towards a car, or money towards my own home.

However it's everyone's choice how they spend their money and their choice where they go on holiday I wouldn't dream of saying anything like your family has said. Well done you for keeping your mouth closed as if it had of been me I wouldn't have missed and hit the wall with my reply

Your money, your time you can do what you want

Our children will be 4 and 1, it’s actually our ds’s 5th Birthday during out trip this year. But I still get the odd comment of “i’d wait until they are older, they won’t remember”
Oh that old chestnut
I hate that one! My son was 2 when we took him to DLP and he remembers everything! But even if he didn't remember, so what? I remember! I remember the look on his face when he met Buzz Lightyear, I remember him laughing his head off of the Dumbo ride, I remember his proud look when the CMs called him Peter (he was dressed at Peter Pan one day). I remember all those wonderful memories and that's what matters!

Exactly, ok I won’t do anything fun for their whole childhood!

I dont understand why people say they couldn't/wouldnt go without their kids - why not? Disney isn't just for Children, despite all the marketing hype!

We dont even do many of the rides, so DH really doesnt want to "do Disney" anymore as he says its not worth it with no rides - although I still would.

Our next Florida trip is Key West and the gulf coast although secretly id love a day or two at Disney!

People just roll their eyes at as at any holiday we take - not just Disney even when they get the same leave as us. I like to make full use of every day of our holiday leave.

DH and I are off on our own this year and although DHs looking forward to it he thinks it’s going to be odd going to Disney without the kids. It will be strange doing the rides without them. We’re steering clear of character meals.

No, don't! DH and I went for our wedding anniversary and had breakfast at Crystal Palace. We still had a bit of fun with the characters; just photo and a hug and off they went! Xx

NOOO - dont avoid them!

I loved our CP meal as Pooh is my absolute favourite and I wouldn't have missed it for anything

As I said - its not better or worse - its just different.

There will be lots of occasions when you can say - we couldn't have done this with the kids etc - and you won't have to worry about them getting tired/hungry/whinging etc!

Enjoy x x
