Alamo rental at Tampa

We are flying in/out of Tampa this year as it was MUCH cheaper..
I heard a rumour about a new car rental area - does anyone know any more about this? We travel mid-August and am trying to plan ahead (it's half the fun) - have others "skipped the line" in Tampa too?

Yes it opens on 14th Feb (Wednesday). You will need to get a monorail from the main terminal building to the new car centre (train every 2 mins and about 5 mins to get to the car centre). There are some videos on the tampa airport website / youtube about it.

Seems straight forward but not as easy as the current set-up. Looks like a little bit more walking to me as well as the centre looks pretty big.

And yes tampa is one of the skip the counter centres for Alamo. Not as big as MCO but still a few to choose from.
