As others have said have a plan what you would do if you do miss it and the worst happens and you can't fly till next day. Spare underwear and clothes in hand luggage for example. The airline have to look after you As you are flying from UK.

We made a JFK -MCO connection a couple of weeks ago within a 2hr 20 layover. I was totally prepared for a missed connection, never thought we would land, disembark & get through JFK in that time but we did. You never know so try not to worry too much x

Just flown back Heathrow to Manchester, not 1hr flight but 30mins as soon as you are up you are down, also BA I think will help to usher you through to your gate if it looks tight.

Same here, and have a look with which flights are going out after yours. Our flight out was with BA at 1.50 I think, and there was an AA flight went out just before us so they could put you on those ones. Airlines also have a minimum connection time they allow and won't change your flights if you meet this. If your flight is late, it's their responsibility.
As all have said, it's BA's responsibility to fly you out. We've always flown indirect, and one year BA had to fly us from Dublin-Gatwick-Orlando with Aer Lingus and Virgin instead of Dublin-Man-Mia-Orlando as they had only booked DH onto flights and left 2 kids with disabled me! Not trying to scare you, but to reassure you that they do sort it out. The flights they put us on were not codeshared and were direct to MCO which is where we were actually staying, but flying to MIA was £££'s cheaper. I do always put spare clothes in hand luggage and after flying indirect for 10 yrs we've only used them once, when NY was closed due to storm. |

We’re doing a similar route on Saturday and I’m a little stressed but I’m confident (hopefully not to my detriment) that BA know what they’re doing. I’m hopeful that BA wouldn’t sell a flight when they couldn’t manage the layover time.
We’ll all end up in Vegas by my sister is doing MAN - LHR - LAS tomorrow, I’m doing MAN - LHR - JFK on Saturday and my other sister is doing MAN - LHR - LAS next Wednesday and they all have a similar layover time to yours. We paid about £300pp less than flying direct from LHR and as we live closer to MAN it made sense to book this route. There are 10 of us travelling so we’ve ‘saved’ circa £3k plus airport hotel costs. |

We flew MAN - LHR - MIA yesterday on the 7am from Manchester. We had 1hr 35 to change terminals to 3 and had plenty of time - I was really worried about the time factor. We flew AA and it was the best customer service we've received - normally fly Virgin.. Drove up to Orlando after the flight. Up the turnpike took 3 1/2 hours.. Shattered when we arrived but all refreshed this morning and went off to Universal 😁

We did MAN - LHR - MIAMI last August similar times to you and it was fine. There was a bus between terminals at heathrow but it was all very smooth and organised, we hadn't been through LHR for years so weren't familiar with the airport at all.
We are doing same tomorrow. All you can do is hope for the best and if you are delayed speak up to staff as they will do everything they can to assist you making a connection. We are booked as a package through BA so if it does go wrong then they have to sort. Why do it? For £313 a flight each in school hols I'll put up with a lot. You can pay a fortune and go direct and still be delayed. Don't let is spoil your hols i'm sure it will be fine and if not it will get sorted. |

I tend not to stress about these things any more (done indirect lots of times, both for holidays and business)
What I do is prepare. That means knowing my options should I miss connections. That includes airline rules, where to go in the airport and who to talk to, and what options I have like hotels. I even take a brief look at hotel options near the airport etc and I have services like Hotels.com / Expedia call center numbers in my phone - although the airline should sort you out if you need to stay over and that is your first option. I also make sure I have the essentials like a change of clothes in my carry on. Ultimately, it's out of your control. When you get there, just calmly head to your gates etc. If you miss it because of delays etc., you miss it! You'll still get there eventually. You'll just need to put your plans into action. By the way, I got stuck in LAS VEGAS for a night once - wasn't the worst thing in the world. Always try to turn inconvenience into opportunity. Edited at 11:35 PM. |
