Aerosols on the plane?

Morning all,

Silly question, having been multiple times I should definitely know the answer but … can we take aerosols (shaving foam, deodorant) on the plane? Cabin baggage or checked or not all?

Thanks so much

of course you can take them. 100ml hand luggage rules apply for hand luggage.

So long as they are 100ml or less and fit into your liquids bag. Any that are over 100ml or if you don’t have room in your liquids bag are fine in your checked luggage.

checked yes, cabin baggage potentially NO - I've had deodarants taken off me before which is very annoying on long haul flights! (however this rule has been applied inconsistently which is why I often forget!)
sorry -will edit this -I suspect it may be airport security dependent as I was looking at our forthcoming trip with BA & it says its ok, I now pack in hold as have been annoyed on more than 1 occasion!

Edited at 12:19 PM. Reason: addition of info

Just don't go spraying deodrant when you're in the loo..a friend did this a week ago en route to Oz and she had cabin crew banging on the door to get in as it set off the smoke detector.

Interesting thread, I always thought aerosols weren't allowed in any part of the plane as they could explode. Was that ever the case?

You can take them, if you want them in your cabin bag just make sure they are under 100ml

This happened to me,on the way to Australia.
I went into the loo,to have a freshen up & was merrily spraying my deodorant & body spray, not even giving it a second thought, next minute I had 6 of them, all banging on the door & trying to get in,my heart was pounding.
I opened the door & they were all stood there with fire extinguishers.ive never done it since.i was mortified!

Yes no issues it really is just the 100ml limited you need to think off.
