Is this a "thing"?
I've noticed as I've got older (45 now) that I'm getting less tolerant of noises 😕
Repetitive or certain pitched sounds really grind on my nerves and sometimes hurts. Am I just turning into a bad tempered old crow? 😁 Are there any good cheaper noise cancelling headphones?

Yes noises annoy me too, certain sound and even voices of actors/actresses seem to grate. Certain noises I love like birds singing a good song or my doggy ‘talking’!

I know what you mean... I just wear ear plugs... the wife does not like it though as i cant hear her, but that's the idea...

Ha, this is me ! I’m slightly older than you & find myself alot less tolerant of noises these days / we were out shopping today & a child was having a tantrum - proper screaming - it went straight thru me ! It never used to bother me !

Most definitely a thing for me but it might be related to my Lupus/ Fibro for DH it’s damage to his hearing that only surfaced 50 years later at 55 from a really bad measles episode we have 2 sets of Bose earphones for the telly he needs it loud me whisper quiet drives us both nuts at times if when we watch the grandkids they have the 20 mins TV time after lunch we take that in turns but we’ve had no tv on tonight but=have had Santana Queen etc on full blast DS’s call it selective tune in

Sorry, forgot about my eye (another getting old thing  ) I got some eye drops and after a couple days it got better.Think I just got a good clump from the water jet on that side. All ok now xx

I’ve acquired tinnitus from somewhere and it drives me nuts when it’s loud. Other times I hardly notice it.
I can’t stand screeching children in public. Not the child but just the sound ! |

Yeah that's one of the worst ones but didn't want to say it.
Some crying is ok but the proper high pitched screech really hurts.
