and 'don't come running to me when it goes wrong' (usually about something like having my belly button pierced)lol It worked I didn't want to prove her right (that it had gone wrong) so I just didn't bother when she said that phrase lol.

my girls are US born and have lived in the US all their lives, the other days my youngest finally asked me why I say 'this is not Blackpool Illuminations' after I tell them to turn off a light, I had to pull up a Youtube video to show her. My parents would always say the same thing. Another one of theirs I use now I have my own kids is 'put the wood in the hole I am not heating (or cooling depending on the season) the street. They have yet to question this one, especially as both the front and back door are fire code metal doors

Not really a saying more slang I guess, but my mum used to call people LCTs (Last Chance Trendy).

Usually referring to those who were making some unusual midife decisions, often clothing, or hair or cars, and ditching wives of many years with a super young new girl friend.
