We’ve booked a fly drive to Miami with virgin for next year. Everything crossed after 3 cancelled trips in the last 12 months 🤞
We love Mulligans , we have friends in Vero we often stay with for part of our holiday , Mulligans is a must.

If you don’t want to drive there’s also a train from MIA to West Palm Beach (and stops between) if you prefer not to drive straight off a long flight . Couple of years the train line will have extended Miami to Orlando of course .

Stayed at Embassy Suites Deerfield beach a couple of times. Also Delray beach is amazing for a day or 2 either one you wouldn't be disappointed.

We have stayed there before. Right on the beech and the rooms are a good size and comfortable.
They also have a free happy hour if your flight is early enough and the breakfast has plenty of choice for you to fill up before the drive up to Orlando.

We flew into Miami in Oct 2017. We drove about an hour from the airport and stayed overnight. My husband was the driver and he was really glad we stopped to sleep. It was raining, dark and the first time driving in the US and that short drive took a lot of concentration. He did sleep on the plane but you never sleep sleep do you more naps. On the way home we drove down that morning and went to one of the malls close by so we knew we where there close and not in a mad rush.

Just re reading this thread as I’m thinking of doing this and just thought I’d ask, if your return flight was around 9pm in Miami then what time would you leave Orlando(so your not sweating about making it)?

First time we did it, we left Davenport at 11.30, got to Vero Beach for lunch at 1.40, and left at 3, got to Miami at 6...would have been earlier but DH took a wrong turning and ended up 10 miles back towards Orlando lol.

2nd time we left the villa in Davenport at 9.45, with the intention of stopping at Vero for lunch, for to Miami at 4.30 having stopped for a toilet stop & a drink, the weather was horrendous and the traffic just as bad, as the back end of a storm so we just drove straight there.

Last time 2019 we actually drove down to Deerfield beach the day before we were due to fly, for a really good deal on the hotel so booked 2 nights so that we had somewhere to keep our bags & relax, we spent the evening by the beach, had dinner & a few beers. Woke up the next day, went for a walk along the pier and the beach, had breakfast, sat by the beach with a tea, then we had a late lunch, back to the room for showers, and then did the drive down to Miami which took about an hour and a bit. So much easier than rushing and enjoyed an extra bit of time at the beach!

I would always always leave with enough time, there will always be somewhere to stop off if you want to break the journey up or if you think you would be really early. First time we had no traffic, 2nd it was really bad so you just have to be prepared!

Just read this thread with interest as i've booked LHR to MIA for August 2022. Savings were a no brainer compared to Manchester/Birmingham... even though they are closer to us.
Looks like arrival is around 15:30 so hoping we can make it out of MIA in reasonable time and head straight to Disney and check-in... and sleeeeep... !
