Samsung TV turning itself on?

I'm sure there was a thread on this, I may have even started it, but cant find it. One of our Samsung TV's turns itself on, anybody else had this or know any reason how/why? Better still any idea how to stop it happening apart from unplugging it.
Its already been replace by a larger TV but if it could be cured it could go to charity - its actually a good TV

Our Samsung tv used to do it, I slept downstairs and was asleep and it went on, I thought I was in poltergeist and ran upstairs. We forget and gave it to my fil who said the tv switched on while he was asleep and nearly gave Him a heart attack. Sorry I wasn’t any help x

Funny you should say that. My niece was staying in my mother's house, she passed away in July.
Twice in one night the TV switched itself on. Poor niece was terrified.
We thought she was sending us a message.

Our old Samsung used to do this all the time. It was really annoying and spooky when it did happen. They came out and replaced something inside of the tv as it was still under warranty.
We don't use the TV now, it's just sitting on a wall in the dining room. It doesn't switch itself on anymore as it's not plugged in

All so found this

If your Samsung TV turns on by itself, it's most likely because you have Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) turned ON. Some HDMI devices (like your DVD player, for example) turn your TV on automatically when they turn on. To turn Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) OFF, go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > EXTERNAL DEVICE MANAGER > ANYNET+ > OFF.

Nah, that's a poltergeist mate.

Mine started doing this after l swapped to a voice activated remote control from Virgin. As long as i turn the Virgin box off the TV stays off. Took a few sleepless nights to sort it out haha.

I just turn mine off at the mains when retiring for the night. Never had a problem.
