I've never thought of it as "eloping" before, but we had a lovely little wedding on the beach at Clearwater in 2005 - just us and DS (who was 11 months at the time).

We booked through Virgin at the time, and it was under £200 for the ceremony, bouquet and buttonholes, plus about $90 for the licence, which we had to go to the Courthouse to arrange.

Our Virgin Rep tried to upsell us to the photo package (which was about $250 for one roll of film, which you had to get developed yourself, so we declined) - it turned out that the photographer was the Notary's husband, who was there with her in the day, and he offered to take some photos on our camera, which was really nice.

We booked a dinner cruise (via our Rep) for the evening, where we would have had a cake and a first dance, but there was inclement weather, so we ended up having our favourite meal in the hotel bar instead - it was a simple but perfect day...

Ha, well to be honest, I never really thought of it as elopement either, but that's what they call the packages on most of the sites, so I assumed that it was me who was out of the loop. I'm very keen that if I'm not inviting all my family, I should probably make it as cheap as I can manage - otherwise it sort of seems to take away some of the benefit of running away xx
