Do you miss out on anything by upgrading to AP on the app?
I’m in Florida now and looking at upgrading to platinum plus. The app is offering me a price I’m happy with but do you get any ‘extras’ in person? It mentions the pass includes a magic band, how would I get that?

Would you mind sharing what the offer is you're getting and which type of ticket you have?
I'm not sure about the magic band, but I think that if you go to the ticket center in either Disney Springs or MK, or possibly any guest services location, they will give you your AP card and let you pick a magic band. At the very least they'll give you your card. The alternative is to order your MB online through MDE, which would give you the option to upgrade to a printed one. One thing to watch out for is FPs: if you're staying offsite you can only have 7 days of FPs per 30 days, so if you have more than that it may be better to go to one of the locations above and convince them to transfer all of your FPs when you do the upgrade. If you're staying onsite then an AP gives you as many days of FPs as you are onsite. Anything after that could potententially drop off your account, for instance if you have 1 week onsite, 1 week offsite, and a 14-day ticket. |

Magic Band you pick up in Magic Kingdom in the park itself - its in the building next to the Hall of Presidents and is called something like "ticket office". You can also get a slider for the magic band there. In EPCOT I also managed to get the AP magnet from guest services (the one they post to US addresses but not to UK).
There are no real "extras" just for upgrading at the booth rather than on the app other than they can give you your AP card (orange credit card style card) which you would have to pick up if you do on the app at Guest Services. Any Guest Service location can however distribute this but not the Magic Band this is only available at Magic Kingdom. Also if you upgrade at Guest Services you an upgrade to the Non-Water Park version of the AP if you haven't used the Water Parks and don't want to - its $100 cheaper but the app automatically puts you to the Platinum Plus pass Upgrading wont effect andy FP's at all if already booked. It however will restrict booking any further following the 7 day rule. Oh and the standard price for the 14 day ticket in September was just over $489 - I was told they now have a standard price in the system and that's the price you get off the standard ticket price. I used mine towards a renewal of my annual pass (so this was $100 cheaper than the base price) and paid around $550.

They only started offering this recently. The value of the 14 day ticket is now a set price on the system so they can offer the upgrade on the app. It only shows after first use so I'm not sure what the upgrade price showed as (did mine at guest services before use) but my 14 day value was $490 minus a few cents.

Seems rather low value for a 14 day ticket considering we paid $150 for a DVC Gold AP upgrade meaning our 14 day tickets were valued at $590.. this includes tax though.

That's the price I have a receipt showing it and if you convert $489 you get £380 which is roughly the price the 14 day tickets are so I don't know why you think its low. When did you do your upgrade? They only started making it a standard price recently (August type time I think) so before that it depended who you spoke to what price you got and it may be you just got a really good price for it. As said I do have the receipt that shows this value but its at home so can't attach currently.
