I don't really remember the coal man delivering, although someone I used to visit on our road had a coal bunker at the side of their house and did have coal delivered. i don't remember TV rental services. And shillings were just before my time; I only remember the post-decimalisation coins.

We used to get bottles of pop from the chippy and would return them. A mate of mine used to collect about a dozen of them in a crate, then pull them along on a go cart, and get around 60p for 'em. Which would buy a large amount of sweets in those days.
