First class Stamp - 85p !

I have cut down massively on Christmas Cards. If I haven’t seen you in decades why am I sending you a Christmas card?
So I actually don’t use mail much but I’m a bit puzzled why first class takes so long?
Two items my sister sent me from Cheltenham to Kent took a week and the birthday card I sent first class from here to Cheltenham took a week.
We’ve given up now so don’t take a chance and we send documents everywhere registered and signed for but obviously costs more, but touch wood they do seem to be processed quickly.

My! Stamps have become expensive.

I havent had bought stamps for years. When they brought out stamps with 1st or 2nd marked rather than the price, I bought a load then and still have some left.
Might get a year or two more out of them before having to buy more.
