Anyone able to advise re Boston trip ?
Hi so this year I would really like to visit Boston bit last minute as we have nothing yet planned but would be the last couple of weeks of August for possibly 2 weeks . I am happy searching for flights etc but wondered if anyone could give some advice on hotels they were maybe aware of or had stayed in . There will be 3 of us myself , DH and DD 6 . Ideally a few days in Boston to see the sights , then not sure of the rest there are a few places I would like to visit Salem, Marthas Vineyard, Mystic and a beach somewhere for a few days to relax(open to suggestions). Other than that I dont know too much about the area so not sure if there are some must see places . I would like to not be driving too much or too far if possible but few hours is ok . If anyone can help with planning or hotels it would be much appreciated . Thanks in advance

Sorry can't help with the Boston bit but have a suggestion as to where to relax.
I would take a cheap JetBlue flight from Boston to Bermuda (frequent service and good fares if you book in advance). We did this with a NYC holiday for the same reason, we wanted somewhere to relax for few days, and honestly the kids enjoyed this bit of the holiday MORE than NYC ! Its only around an hour in the air from Boston or from NYC and Summer is the best time to go as it is seasonal (its not the Caribbean as many people mistakenly think). It is drop dead gorgeous ! I was in love before we even landed ! We spent a long weekend at the Newstead Belmont - pricey but they do have deals and it has so many perks to help off-set this that will save money - beautiful self catering studios that sleep 2A/2C, free airport transfers, free beach transfer, free Hamilton ferry. The rooms are to die for and so are the sunsets across the harbour. If you book through a cashback site this might help too. You can't hire a car on Bermuda - tourist are not allowed to hire any vehicle, other than mopeds (another saving ) but the ferries and buses are great. We hired a taxi for the day and toured the island (it was the sickly pink London cab you might well see - think his name was Malcom?). Plenty to see & do on the islands for a few days and the pink sandy beaches ... A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! Another bonus is that you do US customs BEFORE leaving Bermuda which is quick and easy - so don't have to join immigration lines back in Boston.

We stayed at The Godfrey Hotel in Boston, it was a fabulous hotel, very comfortable and clean. I found hotels in Boston quite expensive but it is a brilliant city. Boston is very walkable although we did the trolley tour as well to get our bearings

DH and I have been to Boston twice and have never stayed in a hotel.
First time, we rented an apartment in Charlestown, just down the road from the Bunker Hill Monument. We enjoyed the area so much that we rented another apartment in the area the second time we visited, this time, just to the rear of the monument. We really enjoyed feeling like we were living in a neighborhood. We used the T to get into the city. It only took about 10 minutes to walk to the nearest station and the same amount of time to travel on the train. I know this doesn't appeal to all people but if you want any pointers, just send me a PM.

We stayed at the Hyatt place in Braintree which is south of Boston. There's restaurants nearby, a mall, subway line into Boston plus excellent road access.

We went in Octoberr, after catching the Amtrack from New York. Stayed at the Loews in Back Bay, which was so handy for the train station. We had a great day trip whale watching (not sure if they will have migrated by November). I was with my children (9 & 12) so we enjoyed doing stuff like the heritage trails, Boston Common, a day trip to Salem (really enjoyed the House of The Seven Ganles). Just general sightseeing. Mystic didn't look up to much (we passed through on train). You can hire bikes and cycle around. Trip to Harcard etc.
