It's been 10 years since we first dropped off son for uni but (and this is a sweeping generalisation based on what we saw) the girls had a lot more luggage/stuff than the boys.

I sent my DD with 2 plates, 2 cups and 2 glasses so she would wash them up, had visions of her going through a full dinner set if I sent her with one before she washed up 😂
Any kitchen extras they need do a click and collect for them at their local Argos or Wilkos when they are settled in.

Our youngest just graduated from bath so not to long ago but I do vividly remember some kids arriving to halls with a small van load . As we traveled from NI we bought the extra basics in Argos and Tesco . Bedding etc.

When our eldest son went to Uni we packed an iron, 3 years later it was still in the box unused 😂
We sent the same iron with our youngest son when he started his 4 year degree and it didn’t make it out of the box. He’s now off to do an MA In York and I’m not even going to try and pack the iron, the receipt is still in the box 😂
