DLP Dash November 2019. The End. Rain, Snow and Dining at Bistrot Remy
Friday 15 November
Up for another EMH and first downstairs to the breakfast room just before it opened at 7. I was feeling a bit tired this morning but did remember to bring the phone to take some pics. This was a good value breakfast with it being included - OOP it would have been 22 euros. And there was chocolate cake with pumpkin It was a lot quieter than yesterday - we figured a lot of people wouldn’t bother with EMH given the pouring rain. Not the most interesting pic but I thought it was a good idea they had this pull out washing line over the bath ... it would have been needed if we had been staying this evening for the coats A few pics around the resort which was very Christmassy Not a Christmassy corridor and then it was back to pack up the cases and take them to the luggage store. We had thought about using the service that sends them direct to the train station ... as it turns out, its a good thing we didnt. A bus was just pulling up as we were dropping the cases so after throwing my hot chocolate all over myself in my haste to get the bus we set off for the park. Good job i had the big poncho on then We were at the park by 8.15- it was pretty deserted and i realised it hadn’t been a clever idea to put my bag under my coat as it had to go through the scanner so there was some faffing about at security before re assembling myself. It was chucking it down so limited pics today as I didnt want to get the phone wet. Back down Main Street through the arcades. These were just so lovely and so interesting. Also very slippy with the tiled floor Orbitron was covered over and neither Philharmagic or Star Tours were open so we walked on Buzz At 8.30. Discoveryland was a bit of write off as we didnt fancy Hyperspace mountain so we walked round to Fantasyland and were on the Teacups for 0900. You can just see the rain pouring off the end of the structure We expected IASW to be open as a high capacity ride in such wet weather but no such luck. There was a short queue for Peter Pan, most of which looked like it was inside so we decided to give it a go. We joined at 9.07 and were on at 9.18. Off by 9.25 and a walk back to get onto Star tours at 0930. This was so empty that we had almost an entire row to ourselves and todays was all in English, where yesterday had been in French. Still not a bad tally for an extremely wet EMH Buzz, Teacups, Peter Pan and Star Tours We had wanted to have a final ride on BTMRR but it was just so miserably cold that we didnt think it would be much fun so we headed over to the Studios at 0950 The covered walk through the food court was rammed with people so a real pain to get through. Most of them were just blocking the doorways which was really frustrating as it was clear the rain wasnt going to be stopping any time soon so I’m not sure what they were standing around hoping for. We could see the hoarding was down round the hat and also CMs standing by the entrance to Crush . We did ask if it was open to be told it was opening the next day. I dont know how many people will have asked them that question throughout the day , why didn’t they just put up a sign. I had hoped there might be a soft opening but no such luck each time we went past. We picked up a fast pass for Ratatouille at 1012 which would work our really well for our early lunch at Chez Remy at 1130 Tower of Terror was showing as 15 minute wait when we joined at 1025 but this must have changed not long after we entered as we ended up waiting almost 30 minutes and it was very cold and wet in the first holding area. It was as good as the last couple of times and we were off at 1050 which was perfect for us to walk over to use our Ratatouille FP . There was a bit of faff getting in with people bunched up in front of the entrance but not actually going in so after a few minutes we assertively moved ourselves through and were straight on . It felt a bit faster and more interesting this time, I noticed more details and came off having definitely enjoyed it more. I was also able to get some pics of the restaurant while it was empty. We were off by 1120 and went round to book in for our ADR. Its a very small waiting area and it soon got very busy and hard to move. A short wait and we were called , again with the Dutch menus but quickly swopped to English. That ADR booking again The restaurant theming is superb with the tin lid tables, bottle cap chairs and everything oversized. It really is excellent We were dining from the premium menu Carrot soup to start with the cream cheese blob Just what we needed to warm ourselves up Then the Ratatouille - very nicely presented - quite filling though and not being a fan of aubergine I didnt make a huge dent in it Along with a delicious fillet steak, dauphinois potatoes and bearnaise sauce What an absolutely amazing dish this was. so filling and just gorgeous. Amazingly the tarte tatin in to follow was even better A quite simply outstanding meal, easily worth the OOP price and even better for us having been paid for. It was a wonderful experience and ad worked perfectly for us to have lunch now with ot being so horrible outside and only a couple of hours until we would be leaving. We left just after 1 with very full tummies. We were not going to be able to catch any of the shows now in this park as their next start times were all after we needed to leave at 3pm so we headed back to Disneyland just as it started snowing Lovely as this sounds, snow is definitely best looked at rather than walking in. It was just so cold 🥶 and all so wet after the rain. We had a walk through the stores and arcades and decided to finish the trip with Philharmagic. A nice sit down in the warm and it was old fun in a mix of French and English. It wasnt very full at all which was surprising as it was fair snowing now and we thought more people would take refuge in here It was coming up to 2.30 and we needed to leave around 3 to get back and pick up cases and be in line for check in by 4 - we had been advised that we needed to be there an hour before departure time at 5. A bus arrived within 5 minutes and we were back at the resort by 3. We had a couple of hot chocolates using up our last vending machine credits and sorting out all our wet stuff into separate bags. We finally saw the walkway to Disney Village out the back We got the cases and a bus was just about to leave so sprinted over and managed to get on - thank goodness we did. We were at the station by 3.30 and after a brief detour round the very unexciting shops we made our way upstairs to see a huge line that went all the way round the building - there were even long queues for people retrieving their luggage from the pre storage place. We joined the end of the queue at 3.40 thinking that would be plenty of time. With 45 minutes to go, the queue looked like this As you get to passport control there is a reassuring sign saying you will get on if you are here in sufficient time... it also says they open up check in 90 minutes before departure . Which didnt happen. We slowly shuffled through, first passports , then all the bags and coats through security. After that we dashed down to the train - which wasnt very clearly sign posted - and we took our seats 5 minutes before the train was due to left The train was half empty though so it was no surprise to hear them announce that we would be delayed. In the end it was just a 30 minute delay but for those people making connections back in London, and with the bad weather affecting some train routes at home, it wasnt looking so great. The train had seen better days but was comfortable enough. We finished off the drinks and snacks and tried very hard not to doze off . We arrived back in St Pancras at 7.15pm with the very wise advice not to dawdle getting off as there would be a queue for immigration and as we didnt have to get any large cases we were off pretty quickly and by 7.30 out and on the way to Euston. I was back home by 8.30 and very pleased to be in my big warm bed We had managed 7 attractions today which wasnt bad given a 90 minute lunch, rain, snow and the need to exit by 3pm. A feeble haul I’m afraid. DLP far surpassed our expectations. We had a brilliant trip despite some lousy weather and will definitely return.

I had that soup with the blob of cream cheese when we went in February, it was lovely and warming. Your meal at Chef Remy looks fab and given how miserable the weather was you must have been grateful to be indoors.
We really liked philharmagic, surprising that it wasn't more popular. You did pretty well considering the awful weather. What a dreadful queue to get on the train at the end of your trip. That's not what you want when you're cold, tired and wet. At least you made it home eventually.

I know I was always really put off by negative reviews but was completely positively surprised
The meal at Chez Remy was outstanding. All of it was so delicious and we didn’t mind taking our time with the horrid weather outside. The queue for the Eurostar was ridiculous. The lady who organised the trip said in all her umpteen trips she had never seen it like that. They didn’t open check in early enough. People at the back of the queue were getting really stressed they would miss the train even though they had been at the station almost 2 hours

We love DLP. It’s much better than people give it credit for. It’s great to be able to walk between the parks.

Another great day despite the rain. The steak and dauphinois at Chef Remy's looks fab, in fact the whole meal does. Great theming in the restaurant too.
Phew! That was a close call for catching your train back. That queue is some length! Glad you made it back safely in the end. A whirlwind visit, but it sounds as if you had a lot of fun. You certainly fitted in a lot in the short time. I have to say, this has piqued my interest in DLP - it seems a great place for a short break and a Disney fix.

Thank you for reading. Completely agree ! I’m converted
The meal at Remy’s was just delicious. We were so pleased . It was a lovely end to the trip. Can’t believe the train queue. They were 30 minutes late opening check in . I’m glad we got there early as we were stressed enough as it was Have to agree. I’ve completely re evaluated my take on it as a short break destination. I may even persuade Andy next time Thanks for reading x
