One Virgin flight lands at LGW at a similar time to ours so that’s the preferred option. Unfortunately, the case manager had left for the day when they phoned but was confident they could get on to it first thing tomorrow. It will be tight but fingers crossed they will be in their way. At least they have it agreed now so even if they have to wait a day or two, there’s an end in sight.
That's good news and hopefully they'll get on the flight that lands a similar time to yours.

When my dad was taken ill in November (he was in Goa and had an oesophageal bleed and atrial fibrillation then diagnosed with oesophageal cancer) it took 2 weeks for my dad to get medically fit to fly and then a further 5 days for the insurance company to decide on how best to get him back. They process it by looking at the latest medical records and discussing the case with their own doctors for advice, it maybe they decide he needs to be accompanied by medical personal or medivaced (very unlikely given he is out of hospital) but once the insurance decide how he is flying home it will be fast. We had 12 hours notice for my dad and in his case the insurance doctors decided he needed wheelchair assistance at both ends and a business class seat with my mum to sit with him (I had to stay in economy!) then once landed in the uk we had an executive taxi home, it is a door to door service by the insurance company and their responsibility doesn’t end until you are safely back in your house.

So glad this is now sorted. That’s what insurance is for. If your flights land at similar times you can meet up and make the journey home together, which is the best option. Best wishes to you all.
