Mobile Diazepam

I have to take these on long haul flights as I get very anxious. Last time I had to get a private prescription which cost me £4 for 3 tablets. I have just been to the doctors for more and they will no longer give me anything for flying. They have suggested taking Kalms but I don’t these will be strong enough. Can anyone suggest anything?

I had the same with my dd, they wouldn’t give any and then a different dr did. I would go back and see a different gp, failing that go to a out of hours walk in centre. They are the only thing that worked for dd otherwise she vomits there and back. Good luck x

This appears to be getting more common.

I was given 7 diazepam just last month.
Didn’t have any issues .
Must be down to the individual doctor .
Maybe try a natural alternative?

You will probably find that the refusal to issue them is down to the new rules on prescribing medicines for ailments that can usually be treated over the counter. Travel sickness in one of those categories so unless you have a significant reason or can prove why you need medication stronger then you can get over the counter its unlikely that a gp will prescribe anything.
There are exceptions to the rules so while the standard answer is no you can ask to see your gp to discuss your particular needs esp if you have previous medical history. Diazapam is prescribed for other medical conditions too which is why some people have no issues getting them.

The other options is to go private as you did before

Why not just get a private prescription, £4 isn’t an extortionate amount in the scheme of things?

And much cheaper than a NHS prescription and you won’t get any more than 2 or 3 at a time these days

I usually have these just for flying too - but have always had them on a private prescription which is fine by me. We get our prescriptions free here in Wales but I don't mind paying for them at all because they work a treat. Try again with different doctor

How do you go about getting a private prescription? Sounds like a good idea, I’d pay a £1 a pill if I needed them.
