Courtesy Call from Vigin Atlantic - or scam?
Hello Dibbers
I received a phione call yesterday afternoon at work on my mobile, it was an 08 number, when I answered a message played out "this is a courtesy call from Virgin Atlantic, however we have no one to take your call, please phone on xxx". I was a bit taken aback as we fly off in a few days! I called the number and got welcome to Virgin and then put on hold with the Jackson's I want you back music palying. I held on for a while, then hung up as I thought I might be routed to one of thiose £10/min calls. Can any of you regular virgin atlantic flyers (its our first time, we mormally get cheap charter, but virgin was cheaper at time we booked!) let me know if you receive a "courtesy call" or is this a scam? Thanks in advance. Mark |

Hi Virgin do ring you sometimes... usually a rep asking you if you have your tickets etc etc... they rang us last year about upgrading to PE the day before our flight which we did for a good price of £179 each

Why don't you put the number in google and do a search, you should be able to find out where the number originates, see what comes up

I have just googled number and found an old thread on the dibb from 2009 (but don't know how to paste link). I also found a few other links, it does appear to be virgin, but the bit that annoys me is me, is having to call them back!

I just Googled 'pre flight Virgin courtesy call' and there was an odd Dibb thread that came up on the same topic so it seems they do call sometimes. Seems like its to check you've got your e tickets, check you have all other tickets but mainly to offer cheap upgrades so I'm now wondering what they were going to offer? ! I'd be gutted if we missed the chance to upgrade cheaply cause looking at that old thread it seems people were offered it for £10 (PE to first), £80 (PE) and then £199 (PE).

it is virgin holidays that calls ahead of your visit not virgin Atlantic
if it was a call from virgin holidays then i wouldn't worry about it due to a decrease in numbers of people visiting the reps meeting they have started calling customers before they leave the UK and chatting about your holiday plans and then asking if you have all your tickets and trips so it is a courtesy call come sales call |
