It's beginning to seem that every age is a 'tricky' age

At least mine are happy out with IFE and iPads etc once on the plane.

Hope it all goes smoothly

Gosh that is late, that particular flight seems to be getting later and later each year. When we used to go first I'm sure it was around 11:30 and it's that little bit later each year. Our Nov flight is 15:15 (into Miami but MCO on alternate days is the same). On the plus side we don't bother with Dublin Airport hotel the night before any more and those have sky rocketed in price too so one silver lining I suppose.

As we travel off peak we always get a much better deal pricewise, it's usually around the €500-€550 marker but this year we are flying in/out of Miami for €397 return also with Aer Lingus direct from DUB.

Our summer flight was also changed to 1 hour later. As we were stopping off in New York for a few days on our return, the new late departure time from MCO to DUB didn't affect us.

I'd look into a day room at 1 of the hotels at the airport. Some do these from 8am to 5pm and others by the hour. May be worth it if you have children.
Maldron, Carlton, Holiday Inn express usually do these. check on the internet.

Other option is Premier Inn, swords, Dublin AIrport. They do family rooms from €37.50 for a night and are usually good at letting you check in that bit earlier(especially if they know you're leaving for the flight around 5/6pm)

If you can stay over in dublin or uk on the return leg, do that. We always do this after a red eye flight. We go to bed straight away. We set alarm for about 5pm, get up, shower and go down to dinner. By 10/11pm we are exhausted and go back to sllep. We always feel much more refreshed the next morning.

I hope it all works out for you.

If any flight schedule changes have not suited me in the past, I just called airline to have connection time changed. BUT all my connecting flights were booked with the 1 airline (or codeshare). That way I avoided arriving in somewhere early with a long stopover because they changed the times of wither the 1st or 2nd flight.

I think you are entitled to do this free of charge as the airline made the change, not you.

worth enquiring about.

other alternative, is to fly via Shannon. Its a lovely quiet airport and the hotel is literally next to it.A bus goes from dublin airport to Shannon but its a long journey!

And we don’t have to leave til the morning-we plan on booking a cheap hotel for first night, so will book somewhere close to airport, seeings as we’ll be up first thing. We live in Donegal, the 3pm flight time meant we should probably stay night before just in case there was a problem with car, or bus, or whatever-the extra hour and a half gives us more leeway. Thinking of maybe booking into the lounge if we do use bus so we can have a proper rest and get cleaned up before flight
Looked into booking a cheap airport hotel for the first night due to the late arrival but couldn't find anything 'cheap'.
Ended up booking a value Disney hotel for £120. This allows us to get the free Disney bus from the airport then wake up already in Disney for the first full day.
I'll collect the hire car in Disney that day then head to the villa.

That might be an idea too! Though we haven’t decided if we will do Disney this time, so I’m not sure I could stay in a Disney hotel then leave 😭😭
