Airport security Dublin
Hi all
We are going GLA-DUB_MCO this year. Never went this route before so anybody that has... do we need to go through security again when we arrive in Dublin or will we still be in the departures side and can go straight to US customs? Thanks y'all.

Haven't done that route yet but am flying EDI-DUB-MCO in May.
Last time when we went via Dublin we stayed overnight. When we went to pre clearance in T2 we went downstairs where there was security. Once cleared security we queued for pre clearance. As far as I'm aware if you are arriving with Aer Lingus from the UK you arrive in the upper level of T2 and then proceed downstairs to security then pre clearance where they should show you a photo of your luggage to confirm. Once cleared you are in the USA.

You have to go through US security and pre-clearance in Dublin.
All flights to the US leave from a special wind that is in effect US soil. You arrive in the US as a domestic passenger. Security / pre-clearance is often pretty fast, but can take up to 90 minutes on a bad day. Thats probably the worst we have experiences - on a couple of occasions. Pre-clearance is great as when you arrive in the US, you just collect your bags and go. |

We did it 2018. You are right in that you head downstairs in the same terminal you arrive at ( we flew in from Manchester). There's the usual security and then pre clearance but I honestly can't remember looking at photos of my luggage. May have changed though. It all works seamlessly and arriving in the US without having to do immigration is great.

The security check is shoes and hand luggage, not your person. Then after that customs and immigration.

Security at Dublin is surprisingly ruder than anything I’ve ever experienced at any U.K. airport (not talking about preclearance but security)

Haven’t found that at all and I’ve both connected and flown over the night before and gone direct. Touch wood my luck has held and I’ve never experienced anything other than professional, pleasant security agents in the UK and Ireland. Did get a right rude jobsworth of an immigration officer in Dublin once. So it’s all luck of the draw.
