What will happen if we don't order groceries (milk, water etc)? Is there anywhere nearby to buy milk for our room? Can tap water be drunk?

Depends ... if you have a car then yes. Easy. If you're without then yes, but you are paying Disney prices. Water is free from restaurants and there are water fountains to refill from. Bottled water is everywhere and costs lots.

Yes, but it doesn't always taste great.
I'd recommend bottled.

They normally bring iced waters whilst you look at the menu. If they don't bring them, just ask. We always take water even if we are ordering wine/beer or soft drinks.

You can get mini milk cartons as snack credits at the resorts. The resorts also have a creamer or milk machine for coffee or tea. What you get depends on where you're staying.

Tap water isn't great but the last couple of times we filled water bottles using a tiny handle on the refillable mug stations and had no issues with that water. I don't know which source the machines use but it tastes better than the tap water.

The Speedway across the street from the Disney Springs bus stops sells water bottles (and possibly milk) much cheaper, at least it did back when it was a Hess. So in a worst-case scenario you could go there and take the bus back to your resort.

Edited to add: the DVC resorts have a bigger milk selection and you'll find full-size cartons or bottles there but they're expensive. Some non-DVC resorts also offer full-size milk and some even have packs of small water bottles for a semi-reasonable price (I think 24 for $7?) but I don't know which resorts have them.

Edited at 08:26 PM.
